Poll: How Social Are You?
09 February 2015
In January, we asked which barrier to implementing your digital marketing strategy was the biggest for you. The results were fairly lopsided as 50% of voters said that a lack of resources and bandwidth was their biggest challenge to overcome.
After seeing our poll, Maria K. Todd, CEO at Mercury Advisory Group, also made note of the trouble with a client’s reluctance to change and adapt to the evolving digital industry:
“My biggest barrier is when the client isn’t up to speed with digital and is only accustomed to analog, media, and paper advertising. Often they are also behind on content marketing techniques and tactics and want to head right back for their comfort zone, which no longer produces the results they enjoyed in the past. Change is scary for them because digital marketing isn’t ‘free’. Proper digital marketing costs money, time, creative genius, and skill. Content creation takes planning, business intelligence, and knowledge of audience pain points and personae–without it, you’re just blasting out a megaphone in the middle of the forest, and the squirrels and the skunks don’t really care.”
